The MPS coordinator for Spain and Portugal, René Rombouts , will visit Portugal and Galicia, coinciding with the Lusoflora fair during the week of February 19 to March 23 , with the aim of making all interested professionals aware of the MPS environmental certification. -ABC , specifically created to manage the use of phytosanitary products, fertilizers, water, energy and waste management.

The MPS certificate is the most demanded in the export market of flowers and ornamental plants, where the sustainability of production is one of the most important requirements to take into account. This certificate also meets the requirements of the Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI). MPS has 27 years of experience and in addition to MPS-ABC also offers other tools for professionals such as MPS-GAP (quality certificate) and MPS-SQ (social responsibility certificate).

Marco van der Sar new president of the MPS board

On April 1, 2024, the MPS board of directors welcomes Marco van der Sar as the new president. With the experience he has gained working for various organizations in the organic sector, he is no stranger to the industry: "Following discussions with the board of directors and growers, I am delighted to take on this role as chairman of the MPS board of directors. Working with the sector, MPS has achieved great achievements in the field of certification, as well as raising awareness and promoting knowledge of sustainability. In the coming years, responsibility and sustainability will play an even more important role throughout the supply chain "Together with the board of directors and the MPS team, I will do everything possible to increase the value of MPS for companies," says Van der Sar.

Marco van der Sar takes over from Gijs Kok, president of the board for the last six years. During his time at MPS, Kok drew on the experience of his years at Royal FloraHolland to make a significant contribution to the council and improve the sustainability of the horticultural industry. Van der Sar is delighted to follow in Kok's footsteps and have the opportunity to make his own contribution.
