It is a small tree with a broad crown and arched branches. Its name in Spanish is Tree of silk or "Acacia" of Constantinople. The flowers are produced throughout the summer, they are white or pink with a white base, simulating children of silk. The bark is used to heal wounds, its seeds are used as food for livestock and wildlife, and the sweetly scented flowers are a source of nectar for bees.
