27% of British youth will garden more in the coming months than before the pandemic

The country's establishments sold 73% more gardening tools and equipment in June than in 2019

27% of British consumers aged 25 to 34 say they will garden more throughout this year, according to the latest report published by the UK Horticultural Trade Association (HTA) . The latest data collected by the entity regarding consumption in garden centers indicates that although sales in June have fallen by 3% compared to the same month of the previous year - when sales soared in the context of confinements-, yes they have shot up 40% compared to 2019 , a pre-crisis scenario. That is why the HTA considers that "high demand is here to stay."

Sales of gardening tools and equipment stand out, although they remain practically the same as in 2020, compared to 2019 they rose 73%. In addition, the average value of sales increased by 35% compared to the same period in 2019. The report details that 20% of British adults have expressed their intention to invest more with gardening in the next year compared to their habits of 2019 and the percentage reaches 27% in the case of young people between 25 and 34 years old.
